The Association

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSOCIATION

The Amici della Musica Association of Alcamo was created thanks to the efforts of many music lovers and experts with the purpose of promoting music and young talented artists.
For a long time its creation was longed for, until the Association was officially established on March 18, 1986 with a notary public deed signed on May 31, 1986, thanks to the enthusiastic commitment and artistic outburst of people of all ages, whose only goal was to foster and enhance the sense of art and the social and cultural growth of the local population.
In the past years, the Association operated in some towns lying in the provincial territory of Trapani, such as Buseto Palizzolo, Calatafimi and Castellammare del Golfo, as well as in towns of the provincial territory of Palermo, such as Balestrate and Partinico.
The Association has programmes in areas that are usually disregarded by musical events, stages concerts that were never held in those places, offers repertoires that differ from traditional opera, and encourages contemporary music performances.

The Association organizes:
- Concert seasons (since 1987)
- The “Città di Alcamo” International Opera Singing Contest (since 1998)
- The “Vissi d’Arte-Città di Alcamo” International Culture Award (since 2001)
- Operatic Singing Workshop (since 2005)
